Carnival of the Creators - January 11, 2007

Welcome to the January 11, 2007 edition of Carnival of the Creators. I’m honored to be allowed to host this carnival this month. There are a lot of talented people out there and we had quite a few send in entries this time around. I hope you’ll visit each of them and see what they have to offer.

Rocket presents Unknown Onward Drawn - Part 2 - The Departure posted at The Rocketman’s Change For A Dollar, saying, “Part 2 of a fantasy story I began writing in June. The initial post was not intended to produce a serial, but a recent re-visitation sparked a few ideas, and so I’ll be working at this one for a while. Enjoy!”

Jake Danger presents Warrior Poet - A True Story » “Chungking Mansions: Tuesday, April 19, 2001″ posted at Warrior Poet - A True Story.

Karl Staib presents Meditation Series for Beginners posted at 10,000 Swimming Pools Inside Our Minds.

Brandon Peele presents The Economics of Self-Awareness posted at GT.

Jack Yoest presents Rocky Balboa: Courage, Integrity, Faith, Victory The Movie posted at Reasoned Audacity, saying, “Your Business Blogger was in Philly recently and wondered about the Rocky statue that was briefly at the top of the 72 steps to the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Since September, the statue is now at the base of the steps.

So I decided to ask the man who might know, Sylvester Stallone.

Why? I asked him.

Rocky Sly says, It’s better where it is — at the base of the steps. At the top was the completion — the end — but it’s not the completion that counts — it’s the journey. The Effort; The Passion.”

Cyndi presents Making a mixed media necklace from piano ivories posted at Cyndi Lavin, saying, “a new tutorial on my blog :-)”

Dawn Xiana Moon presents Why I Will Never Have a Boyfriend posted at Dawn Xiana Moon: Randomness.

Douglas T presents Setting graphic design free posted at Thoughts on Design.

James presents Learning to Pitch posted at On The Scene.

Mallory presents Naughty Secretary Club posted at Miss Malaprop - independent, sustainable, eco-friendly shopping, film, art, fashion, crafts & design, from New Orleans with love.

Will Chen presents Micro-donations for Darfur posted at Wisebread, saying, “Greg Go of Wise Bread presents the “Darfur Wall,” a solemn and beautiful reminder of the ongoing tragedy in Darfur.”

Corey presents Web 2.0 posted at myopiniononeverything.com.

lorenzo presents Channeling Inspiration posted at RealitySeeds, saying, “he Inspiration Channeling Method can be used to invoke and channel inspiration for a multitude of purposes, including finding inspiration for art projects, creating new business ideas, speaking with customers or partners, writing inspired blog posts and articles, bringing the best contribution during work meetings, create new ideas, bring inspiration and advice to others, etc…”

Jakob Dupont Knudsen presents 10 Steps to become a magician posted at Jakob Dupont Knudsen.

Blog Tipping - December

Blog Tipping

Well, it’s December 1st and that means that it’s blog tipping day! Here are my three recommended blogs for this month:

About: Jewelry Making & Jewelry & Beading are two blogs written by my fellow b5media blogger, Tammy Powley. Tammy shares her years of jewelry making wisdom with a real flair for tackling topics we all wonder about. She has project ideas, tips for newbies and does it all with a real flair. Visit her blogs and enjoy her expertise.

Katie Hacker’s Beading Blog - Katie shows us her latest jewelry creations and even has a regular email newsletter with lots of tips and tricks. I read her blog often and think you’ll enjoy it too.

The Jewelry Blog - This blog is the place to see the latest designs and piecs from Cluny Grey. If you are like me and love to just look through beautiful jewelry, this is a blog you won’t want to miss. Check it out!

piecesorry about November’s blog tipping omission - I was busy setting up and starting to blog for three new blogs. I just forgot to do it. Not to worry, I’m back on schedule watch for blog tipping each month on this blog on the first day of the month. Happy Holidays!!

News About Fireplaces

One of my fellow blog jolters, Sharon, has a blog called Your Elegant Bed & Bath. I have been wondering what to do about the huge, red brick monstrosity in my living room, better known as the fireplace. Her article about fireplaces gives me a few new things to think about for my fireplace facade.

But don’t stop reading the blog with this post, she has tons of great ideas for your home throughout her blog. I have it marked as one of my favorites and love to see what she comes up with each time. Check it out! :-)

Amazingly Wonderful New Development!!

I just got word that I’m going to be a paid blogger for b5media.com. I’ll be covering the latest dirt about reality TV.  Anyone who knows me, knows that I’ma  self-described reality show addict. So what could be better than to blog about it for cash?

The deal is not finalized, we still have the paperwork, etc., but I’m thrilled anyway!  I’ll post here when the new blog goes live.

Wish me luck!  :-)

A Tribute to Grandfathers

A wonderful thing happened this morning. I visited the blog of a fellow blog jolter, Earl, and found this post about his grandfather.

I was totally touched by his account of time spent with his grandfather and memories of my own wonderful grandfather came rushing back. Memories of sitting on his porch in the porch swing at night to hear the tree frogs and crickets and the tree leaves rustling in the breeze. Those were the happiest times of my childhood and he was the most wonderful man I knew…and still is! Every man I’ve known since has had to live up to his example!! And that’s a tall order!!

I still miss him. But today, Earl’s blog brought memories of him back for a few minutes. Thanks, Earl!! :-)

Blog Tipping - October

Yes, I know I’m a day late writing my Blog Tipping post. It’s been crazy lately! But it’s better late than never, right?  ;-)

According to the rules of blog tipping, on the first of the month bloggers are to pick three other blogs to post about and give their comments on them. Here’s my selection this month:

Four Seasons of Jewelry - ‘06-’07
This is a fun and fabulous blog that allows jewelry designers to upload photos and descriptions of their latest brag pieces. I have to tell you, it’s a real inspiration to me. I love seeing all the new designs and I’m finding out aobut a lot of other jewery designers out there. This site is definitely one worth checking out.

Sharma Designs - Behind the Scenes
Sharla designs jewelry and blogs about the jewelry design business, behind the scenes. I enjoy reading what she’s up to and like her designs too. You’ll want to enter the Rare Bird Finds contest too!

Peggy Li Designs
Peggy Li’s blog is full of tips and tricks for jewelry designers and now she’s launched a brand new online shop. You really should go check out her designs!

Well, there’s my tardy blog tip for the month. I hope you enjoy these sites as much as I do.
