My Halloween Plans
My friend, Ken, and I are going on the St. Louis Exorcism tour tonight.
Most people don’t know that the movie The Exorcist was based on a real incident that took place here in St. Louis. We’re going to go see where it happened and learn about the story.
Of course, I’ll blog about what happens and post some photos tomorrow. (If I make it back safe, that is!)
Happy Halloween!

The old fort on the Fort Bliss post before dawn
The old fort on the Fort Bliss post before dawnOriginally uploaded by cree8iv_1.
Sunday, I did something I have never before done. I spent the night on an Army post. In fact, I had never even been on a military post or base before. It’s amazing how huge the place is!
Yesterday, on the way to the airport to catch my flight home, I shot this photo of the historic old fort located on the post. I have to say, my new camera takes kick-butt photos because this was taken before dawn. Yes, I did adjust the shadows in Photoshop, that’s why it’s grainy, but you get the idea.
Also on the way out of the post, we saw hundreds of young men and women in their camo, running. It doesn’t matter what one feels about the situation in Iraq, it’s still a sobering thing to see these young people training to go there. They will soon be placing their lives in danger for all of us. I got a little choked up by the realization when they were running past us. All I can think is that I hope each and every one of them come home safely…and soon!
Regardless of political leanings, they deserve our complete respect. My hat’s off to them!

Ok, this is admittedly a blurry photo, but we were driving through the city of El Paso when I snapped it. The giant flag (this photo does not do it justice) is located at the entry to Mexico from El Paso. You can see the flag for several miles. Very impressive!

The view of the mountains from El Paso
The view of the mountains from El Paso

This weekend, I helped a good friend move to El Paso, Texas. ..on purpose!! Believe it or not, my friend David actually voluntarily moved to El Paso!
To make a long story short, he needed someone to drive his Ford Explorer down while he drove the moving truck.
Anyone who has ever travelled by car with me knows that I like to go just a “tad” over the speed limit in order to get there sooner. That was not our luck this time. The moving truck never made it up to the actual speed limit. The 1300 miles seemed to drag on forever. My only request in return was to have an “authentic” Mexican dinner upon arrival.
David took me to a restaurant in El Paso called Forti’s. It did not disappoint!! The food was amazing! I recommend that everyone who finds themselves in El Paso should go to this restaurant. It’s worth it!
And, much to my surprise, I found out that El Paso is actually a pretty nice place. The view of the mountains from the city is spectacular. Ok, I take back the kidding about moving to El Paso. It’s a pretty ok place, after all.

The Lemp Mansion at night

The Lemp Mansion at night

Ok, this concludes our trip to the Lemp Mansion. This photo was taken outside of the Mansion at around 10:30 pm. I was trying to see if we could capture the same “orbs” that Roshini got in her photos from about this location at night last year. No such luck this time. But you can take a look at her photo here.
I hope you decide to check out this interesting place next time you want to go ghost hunting!

Did you ever wonder what stood on the St. Louis Arch grounds before the Arch was built? Well, this is a picture of the original location of the Lemp Brewery which stood there. Around 1900, they outgrew this location and moved the brewery to its current location to the south.

Spirit Energy in the Cellar
I think this is a cool shot down the spiral staircase from the main floor to the cellar. If you enlarge the photo, you can see another “orb” in the cellar.

Old Cave Entrance
In the early days of the Lemp Brewery, the beer was stored in a network of natural caves below the Lemp Mansion and the Lemp brewing complex nearby. They also used to hold large parties in the caves. This photo shows the entrance to the cave system below the mansion. This entrance is now closed off and is located in the cellar.
William J. Lemp is probably rolling over in his grave because the beer being sold in this bar is that of his arch rival company Anheuser-Busch which is located right across the highway from the Lemp brewery location. (A-B is also my current employer.)

The Lemp Mansion Cellar
Mystery Dinner Theater productions are held in the cellar of the Lemp Mansion form time to time. This is the location of these productions.
Note the large Falstaff-like logo built into the floor. The Lemp Brewery was the original producer of the Falstaff brand. They sold it during Billy Lemp’s time in charge.

Charles Lemp’s original bedroom

Charles Lemp’s original bedroom
This is the original bedroom occupied by Charles Lemp before moving downstairs to where the bar is located now.
Every time David would even pass near this room at night, the hair on his arms stood up and he got goose bumps.
Many people have reported seeing and sensing Charles Lemp in and around this room over the years.
